NBM Live Online School Programs

Bring the New Brunswick Museum into your classroom through dynamic and interactive live online programming! Students will have the opportunity to interact with NBM interpreters, live in the galleries, as they present museum displays, collection pieces, and engaging digital content.

All that is needed is a high-speed internet connection, webcam, microphone, and Microsoft Teams software. All programs are 45 minutes long including 15 minutes available for questions.
The programs are presented by a museum interpreter.

Program time slots are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 2pm and bookings are required two weeks in advance.

Grades 1-5

Under the Sea
Students will learn about the rich biodiversity in New Brunswick’s waters including its various marine habitats and marine species including whales, sharks, turtles, and seals, through the use of engaging videos and museum galleries and specimens.

Things with Wings
Students will learn about the rich biodiversity in New Brunswick’s forests including birds, bats, and moths, through the use of engaging videos and museum galleries and specimens.

Our Changing Earth – Fossils
Discover what geology is and how fossils form while exploring the ancient environments that have existed in New Brunswick over the last billion years. This program will cover topics like climate change, food chains, evolution, and more!

Grades 6-12

Ocean Conservation
Students will learn about a variety of marine species present in New Brunswick waters and the threats they face as a result of climate change and habitat loss. They will have the opportunity to see behind-the-scenes videos from the New Brunswick Museum that feature specimen storage and conservation, as well as a time-lapse documentation of a whale necropsy.

New Brunswick Biodiversity
Students will learn about the rich biodiversity of New Brunswick’s Acadian Forest including fungi, tree, and animal species. Through engaging videos and discussion of museum fieldwork, students will have the opportunity to learn about the environment around them and what can be done to protect it.

Our Changing Earth - Plate Tectonics
The Earth’s crust is constantly shifting and changing through the action of plate tectonics. Explore the science behind this process while investigating the structure of the Earth, ancient environments, natural disasters, and more!
