14, 21, and 28 October Saturdays 10am-4pm: "The Nature of Art". Regular admission. Art is all around us, from the feathers on a bird or the lichen on a rock, to the fossils and tides in the Bay of Fundy! Experience the "Nature of Art" through hands on tours, demonstrations, crafting and baking activities, highlighting temporary exhibition Conservation on Canvas by artist, Michael McEwing. 5 October Thursday 5-7pm: Join the New Brunswick Museum and the Nature Trust of New Brunswick for the opening of the exhibition Conservation on Canvas - Paintings by Michael McEwing. Experience New Brunswick’s natural places through the eyes of artist and art educator, Michael McEwing. 5, 12, 19, and 26 October Thursdays 6:30-8pm: Handmade at the NBM: October is Origami! Free in NBM Foyer. Take part in group instruction or work on individual projects in the company of friends. Fee of $2 per project or bring your own supplies. Don’t miss out on these evenings of friendship and fun! Ages 14 to adult. (Bilingual)

9 October Monday: Thanksgiving day. The NBM Exhibition Centre will be open 9am-5pm. Regular admission.

13 October Friday 4pm-6pm: Gallery Hop. Free admission. Start the Gallery Hop at the New Brunswick Museum, with the recently opened temporary exhibition Conservation on Canvas - Paintings by Michael McEwing, and "Your Utopia" by Maggie Higgins, recipient of the 2017 Greater Saint John Professional Visual Artists Fund grant. Both the artists will be present. 
Conservation on Canvas is a partnership between the Nature Trust of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Museum showcasing the natural beauty of New Brunswick. "Your Utopia" is a dream state that explores the strength and vulnerability of innocence. 

16 October Monday 5-6:30pm: Reception. Join the New Brunswick Museum to welcome the Alliance of Natural History Museums of Canada Board of Directors to Saint John for their autumn meeting, and celebrate the presentation of the annual ANHMC Bruce Naylor Award. Whale of a Time!
Whale sightings, of the up close and personal kind, are guaranteed at the New Brunswick Museum! You’ll head indoors for this whale-watching experience, put on a lab coat and gain incredible insight into these mysterious ocean giants from a point of view you just can’t get out on the water. Examine real whale bones and discover what you have in common with these enormous mammals. You’ll know just ‘how big is big’ when it comes to a whale! People of all ages will leave the museum as ‘Bay of Fundy Tide Experts’ with great stories of the whales and the world-famous tides, this time through the eyes of a knowledgeable guide.  $15/person, minimum 4 guests Daily at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. 90-minute duration. Discover Uptown Saint John

A one-of-a-kind discovery tour you won’t want to miss while visiting the city of Saint John! Museum interpreters offer a fun and engaging experience as you explore Uptown Saint John. Join us at the museum entrance to begin your 2-hour tour. Your guide will take you through the city (we’re bringing props in case you are easily distracted!). Walk alongside the harbour, listen to its colourful history; take in the sights and sounds, stop for a photo-op beside the full-size moose. Head uptown where you’ll get an up close look at the distinctive streetscape, a display of fine period architecture and outstanding craftsmanship. $15/person, Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

School and Youth Groups, Adult Groups, Senior Groups, Tea and Tour Special programs available by appointment. Group rates apply to groups of eight or more.

NBM Birthday Parties for all ages! Book your birthday party at the NBM to receive a fun, interactive tour of a museum gallery & room rental for your festivities. $13. Per person. Some restrictions apply for room use. Please book two weeks in advance. Call (506) 643-2349 for more information.
