Winter admission hours at the NBM are now in effect.

Family Activities

Until 31 August: NBM Explorer Days are EVERY DAY in July and August! Regular admission. These family adventures are for the young and young at heart. Join the NBM for a full day of themed activities including art instruction, experiments, face painting, eco-friendly educational crafting, games, gallery talks and discovery programmes. Face painting noon-1pm daily. A day pass at the NBM ensures you can plan your day to capture all of the excitement. Extreme Summer Fun. (Bilingual)

16 August Wednesday 5-7pm: Join digital artist Eric Chan a.k.a. eepmon at the NBM for a presentation on how working digitally opens a new area for artists to create, experiment, disrupt, and as a platform to reach audiences in new and innovative ways. Gain fresh insight into a real situation that is currently in the minds of traditional institutions – embracing the digital age while at the same time staying true to core values. Free admission. 17, 24, and 31 August Thursdays 6:30-8pm: Handmade at the NBM: August is Knitting and Crochet! Free in NBM Foyer. Small fee of $2 per project, or bring your own supplies. Don’t miss these evenings of friendship and fun! Ages 14 to adult. (Bilingual)

18 August Friday 4pm-6pm: Gallery Hop. Free admission. Start the Gallery Hop at the New Brunswick Museum, with the temporary exhibition True Nordic: How Scandinavia Influenced Design in Canada. (Bilingual)

24 August Thursday 5-7pm: The New Brunswick Mat Registry and the New Brunswick Museum invite you to celebrate the launch of films and learning modules created to share New Brunswick's rich mat hooking heritage. Reception and film screening at the New Brunswick Museum Exhibition Centre. RSVP 1-888-268-9595 by 21 August.

24 August Thursday 6:30-7:30pm: New Brunswick Museum Walk - Partridge Island Historical Walk. Regular admission. Join a NBM Interpreter on a walk down Harbor Passage to take in views of Partridge Island while experiencing stories of its incredible past. Meet at the New Brunswick Museum Reception Desk. 17 August Thursday 6:30-7:30pm: Golden Age of Sail Walking Tour. Free with admission. Learn about the shipbuilding history of Saint John right where it happened with this informative and engaging walking tour down Water Street. Meet at the NBM Reception Desk. (Bilingual)
 
18, 19, and 20 August Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 1:30-2:30pm: Ship Portraiture Tour. Free with admission. Take a closer look at the NBM's collection of marine art from the golden age of sail. (Bilingual)
 
18, 19, and 20 August Friday, Saturday, Sunday 3:30-4:30pm: Wind, Wood and Sail Gallery Tour. Free with admission. Marvel at stories of famous ships built in New Brunswick and tales of their travels around the world while taking in the scope of the time, effort and ingenuity required to construct them. 18, and 19 August Friday and Saturday 1:00-3:00pm: Pirate Party. Free with admission. Learn how to walk, talk, work and play like a pirate! Includes costumes, crafting and even sea shanties! (Bilingual)

21 - 26 August, 2017: Fundy FRINGE Festival at the New Brunswick Museum. The NBM is happy to be a part of this performing arts festival bringing unconventional theatre from the fringes to the mainstream and will be host to three shows – Stereotypical; The Lost Gentleman / Le Gentleman Perdu; and Tom & Erica: Don't Believe us Just Watch. All shows will cost $10 at the door or audience members may purchase a Festival pass which will offer 8 shows for $60. Whale of a Time!
       
Whale sightings, of the up close and personal kind, are guaranteed at the New Brunswick Museum! You’ll head indoors for this whale-watching experience, put on a lab coat and gain incredible insight into these mysterious ocean giants from a point of view you just can’t get out on the water. Examine real whale bones and discover what you have in common with these enormous mammals. You’ll know just ‘how big is big’ when it comes to a whale! People of all ages will leave the museum as ‘Bay of Fundy Tide Experts’ with great stories of the whales and the world-famous tides, this time through the eyes of a knowledgeable guide.  $15/person, minimum 4 guests Daily at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. 90-minute duration. Discover Uptown Saint John

A one-of-a-kind discovery tour you won’t want to miss while visiting the city of Saint John! Museum interpreters offer a fun and engaging experience as you explore Uptown Saint John. Join us at the museum entrance to begin your 2-hour tour. Your guide will take you through the city (we’re bringing props in case you are easily distracted!). Walk alongside the harbour, listen to its colourful history; take in the sights and sounds, stop for a photo-op beside the full-size moose. Head uptown where you’ll get an up close look at the distinctive streetscape, a display of fine period architecture and outstanding craftsmanship. $15/person, Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

NBM Birthday Parties for all ages! Book your birthday party at the NBM to receive a fun, interactive tour of a museum gallery & room rental for your festivities. $13. Per person. Some restrictions apply for room use. Please book two weeks in advance. Call (506) 643-2349 for more information.
